March 2015 Blog Income Update

Hi everyone! Cat here. As many of you know, when I bought this website last July, I promised to share my monthly income generated from it. We’re still waiting on a few payments to come in for March, but I’m trying to be better about posting this regularly, so I decided to go ahead and share the income generated thus far.

As I say every month, this is just my RDS income and does not reflect income generated from my other sites, freelance writing clients, or other random online entrepreneurial pursuits. I will say, now that we are 8 months into owning this site, it’s a well oiled machine. Kayla does a great job as blog manager, and it has truly become the passive income that everyone on the Internet promises can happen one day. In March I probably spent about an hour on RDS and that was mostly sending invoices and forwarding e-mails to Kayla regarding our guest posters and advertisers.

Kayla and I work really well together and are pretty similar, with the exception that she is about 100x more organized than I am. But, I will say that if you’re interested in growing your blog or starting a blog and extending your network, finding a quality blog manager will really be key in generating some passive income. I feel lucky that I found mine when I did since she is in pretty high demand now. 😉

One thing I will be keeping an eye on not for April but for May is that Google has finally announced that they will be making an update on April 21. Depending on how that affects the rankings of this site, that could affect us a lot. Luckily, this site is an investment that is totally paid for and we’ve been pure profit for a few months now. So, if anything bad happens, it will be a bummer, but since we try to run a quality site here, hopefully it won’t. Will definitely keep you updated on this as it unfolds.

Finally, below are our numbers for this month. Comment and let us know how your month was.

Eighth Month’s Income:

Earnings:

Affiliate and Direct Advertising: $743.00

Expenses:

Help With the Blog: $195.00 (As many of you know, I have help in the form of virtual assistants here on RDS, and I also pay to regularly update the technical side of things.)

Guest Posts: $15.00 (We pay $5 per guest post to help people with their finances.)

So, Earnings – Expenses =

Total Income: $533.00 in profit
